Need

A large percentage of youth in India – particularly those from remote villages, taluk districts and slums – have no access to formal higher education, with approximately 80% not reaching the 10th standard.  These youth lack computer skills, confidence and motivation; and are therefore unable to secure employment. Without necessary intervention they are vulnerable to engaging in non-productive and anti-social activities.

Intervention

SJNEFFL supported Unnati to train 200+ youth in Surat in life skills, values, spoken English, and computers.

Impact

Training has led to 113 job placements, with an average salary of INR 8,000, including placements at big brands such as Big Bazaar, Westside, Honda Motors, European Home Décor.
